The Biological Foundation
When you look at our Neurobiological Foundation white paper, you see how much we care about the brain. But the brain can only thrive in a healthy body. At Ironstone Goldendoodles, we believe that a proactive, science-based medical protocol is the only way to ensure our puppies are ready for the world.
We don't just "give shots"; we follow a strategic schedule designed to provide maximum immunity while minimizing stress on a developing immune system.
The Deworming Strategy
Intestinal parasites are a fact of life for all puppies, regardless of how clean the environment is. That’s why our protocol begins early:
Strategic Intervals: Puppies are dewormed at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age.
Beyond the Basics: We use veterinary-grade products that cover a broad spectrum of parasites, ensuring that when you begin The Ironstone Journey, your puppy's digestive system is clean and ready for growth.
The Vaccination Schedule
Maternal antibodies (protection from the mother's milk) are powerful, but they eventually fade. Our vaccination schedule is timed to "catch" the puppy's immune system just as those antibodies drop:
Early Protection: We use high-titer vaccines like Neopar to protect against Parvovirus during the most vulnerable early weeks.
The 5-Way Core: At 8 weeks, puppies receive their first "5-way" core vaccine, protecting them against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus.
Owner Continuity: You will receive a detailed medical log so your vet knows exactly what has been administered and when the next boosters are due.
The Socialization vs. Safety Balance
A common question during our Application and Interview process is: "Can I take my puppy to the park immediately?" While we emphasize Mental Stimulation and Socialization, we advise caution until the full series of vaccines is complete (usually around 16 weeks). We teach our owners how to safely socialize their puppies "off the ground" until their biological shield is fully formed.
A Commitment to Longevity
This early medical care is just the first chapter. Whether we are Choosing Our Breeding Stock based on health markers or advising you on Caring for your Aging Goldendoodle a decade from now, our philosophy remains the same: Prevention is better than a cure.
By following the Ironstone Protocol, we ensure that the puppy you bring home is as healthy on the inside as they are beautiful on the outside.
